Nora Unwin was a children's illustrator and author. Born near London, England into a family where several members were engaged in publishing and printing. She is best known for her work in book illustration and wood carving. After moving to the States she became a member of the National Academy of Design in New York and earned a Newbery mention for "Mountain Born", and a Newbery Medal for "Amos Fortune, Free Man".
