Evening Shadows
1844-1942, American

A beautiful summer landscape by the American artist, Horace Burdick. It measures 5 3/4 x 10 1/2 inches and is matted. Burdick attended the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston and was known throughout his career as a portrait and landscape painter. He did many White Mountain scenes as well as New England coastal scenes. This image is from the artists' estate.

Boy With Cock
1922-2000, American

This linoleum engraving by Leonard Baskin measures 4 x 2 1/2 inches and is printed on a sheet size of 17 1/2 x 17 inches. An unsigned proof done in 1951 for "A Little Book of Natural History", published by The Gehenna Press in Worcester, MA., and is listed as #101 in the Fern and O'Sullivan catalogue. After serving in the Navy during WWII, Baskin began his career as a printmaker in the late 1940s, beginning with simple linocuts, but quickly progressing to dramatic wood engravings, then later etchings and lithographs.

Stand of Maples

A very fine sketch of a stand of maples by the artist, Dexter Dawes. Summering in Marlboro, NH, he is known for his lithographs, drawings and paintings of Mt. Monadnock and surrounding views. This image measures 11 x 7 5/8 inches and is done on a lightweight paper.
