1890-1970, American

This is a very fine original painting of an abandoned mill in Sudbury, Massachusetts by Rockport artist Stanley Woodward. Oil on board, 12 x 16 inches, signed in the lower right corner, titled and inscribed on the back, in what appears to be the original frame. Stanley Woodward was a Rockport painter, known for his landscapes and marine paintings. He exhibited his work at many prestigious institutions, including the Pennsylvania Academy, Corcoran Gallery, National Academy, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Print

Man With Clasped Hands
1922-2000, American

This woodcut by Leonard Baskin measures 2 x 3 inches and was published in 1949. This image is not shown in the Fern and O'Sullivan catalogue but we think it is listed as #35. After serving in the Navy during WWII, Baskin began his career as a printmaker in the late 1940s, beginning with simple linocuts, but quickly progressing to dramatic wood engravings, then later etchings and lithographs.

Drawing

Meadow View
1872- c.1950, American

A very nice pencil drawing of a distant meadow viewed through a shaded grove of trees by Dexter Dawes. It measures 11 x 7 5/8 inches, on a bi-fold sheet of medium weight paper. Dawes spent many summers in the Marlboro, NH area drawing and painting the incredible natural beauty that surrounded him.
