Mountain View

This landscape by Dexter Dawes measures 15 x 20 7/8 inches, is signed and dated, 1937. There are some indications that it was painted on a rainy day. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.

This 1986 engraving by Ryohei Tanaka measures 6 1/2 x 8 inches and is pencil signed, dated and numbered on the lower margin, framed. Ryohei Tanaka began his artistic career rather late at the age of 30, studying with the Japanese master, Furuno-sensei. He loved the medium of etching and what he was most interested in portraying were places where man and nature came together. He held several solo shows plus numerous traveling exhibitions throughout Japan, the U.S. and Europe. His works are included in the Fogg Museum, BMFA, The MET and the David Rockefella Collection.

This red chalk drawing attributed to the Italian artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo measures 8 1/2 x 6 inches, unsigned, label with artist provenance included. Tiepolo was an Italian painter, printmaker and craftsman. Working in his native Italy as well as Spain and Germany, he became known for his religious frescoes and has been described as "the greatest decorative painter of eighteenth-century Europe."
