The Gorst House
A fine autumnal New England scene by Dexter Dawes, the sight size of this painting is 11 1/2 x 15 1/2 inches, 1934, signed and dated, in the original frame with a label on the back. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.
