Early Morning on the High Seas

This remarkable oil on canvas was painted by noted American marine artist Frank Vining Smith, c. 1930. The canvas measures 30 x 36 inches, and is signed in the lower right corner, in a very fine modern gilt frame. Frank Vining Smith was born and raised on Cape Cod Massachusetts and had a strong affinity with the ocean from a very young age. He studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston under Frank Benson, Philip Hale and Edward C. Tarbell, then at the Art Students League of New York.

Rooftop and Skylights

This is a fantastic image of the rooftops of New York City by American artist and architect Armin Landeck. Copper engraving, image size 17 3/4 x 20 5/8 inches, published in 1969 in an edition of 100, cat: Kraeft-121, pencil signed. Armin Landeck was born in Wisconsin and graduated with a degree in architecture from Columbia University in 1927, then went on to study art and printmaking at the Art Students League in New York and spent a couple of years traveling through Europe, studying the art and architecture of the landmark European cities.
