A Pair of Rockport Scenes
1888 - 1954, American

A great pair of New England harbor scenes by Rockport artist Anthony Thieme. Both paintings are oil on canvas, 8 x 10 inches, c. 1935, both signed "A. Thieme"in the lower right corner, in matching frames. One of the most popular artists associated with the Rockport School, Anthony Thieme was born in Rotterdam, Holland. His early training in fine art was with George Hackler at the Royal Academie of Fine Arts in the Hague; he later studied at the German Academy and with Italian masters Garlobini and Mancini.

Points of Departure IV  -  Pavane

This beautifully framed etching and engraving by Peter Winslow Milton measures 18 x 28 inches. A very detailed image published in 1999 in an edition of 175, it is pencil signed, titled and numbered on the lower margin. The fourth of four in a suite entitled "Points of Departure", celebrating the end of the millennium, this moody image with its rich tonal scale plays with layers, transparencies and reflections drawn from images from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A graduate of Yale, Peter Milton's work has been exhibited in most major museums in the US and Europe.
