Oil on panel, 8 x 10 inches, signed "Carle J. Blenner" lower left. Blenner studied art at Yale and then in Germany and France at the Academie Julian under William Adolphe Bouguereau, Robert Fleury & Aman-Jean. He taught in the fine arts departments at Columbia and Yale.

Sailing off the Maine Coast

A fine image of sailboats along the Maine coastline, painted in watercolor on paper, sight size 12 3/4 x 16 1/2 inches, signed lower left, framed. Laurence Sisson was born in Maine and after serving in Japan in WWII, studied at the Yale Summer School. He became known for his seascapes of the New England coast as well as images of the American southwest.

Old Pine, Estes Park, Colorado

This is a very fine original etching of the Colorado landscape, image size 11 3/4 x 9 7/8 inches, published in 1922 in an edition of 50 impressions, pencil signed, numbered and titled. George Elbert Burr studied at the Art Institute of Chicago for a short time, but was otherwise self taught. He began his career as a commercial artist for several publications, including Harper's Weekly and Scribner's magazine. In 1906 Burr moved to Colorado, then later to Arizona, where he became known for his remarkable etchings of the rugged landscape of the American southwest.
