This landscape by Dexter Dawes measures 15 x 20 7/8 inches, is signed and dated, 1937. There are some indications that it was painted on a rainy day. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and paintings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club.

This vibrant woodblock print by Toshi Yoshida measures 9 3/4 x 14 3/4 inches, pencil signed and titled in English and Japanese, blindstamp, 1951. Toshi Yoshida was the son of the great Hiroshi Yoshida, one of the most famous woodblock print artist of the 20th. century, his father having a tremendous influence on him. They traveled together throughout the world creating landscapes, portraits and animal scenes.
