Watercolor, sight size 14 x 19 3/4, signed "Royal H Milleson" l.r, framed. Royal Hill Milleson lived most of his life in the mid-west, except for several years he spent in Boston at the turn of the century. He specialized in landscapes, and was a member of the Chicago Society of Artists and the Boston Art Club.


U.S.S. Haddo- Portrait of a Submarine- 1942

A remarkably detailed original etching of the WWII submarine U.S.S. Haddo, from John Taylor Arms' 'U.S. Navy Series'. Etching and aquatint, image size 9 1/2 x 18 1/8 inches, 1947, cat: Fletcher-405, numbered "III" in pencil, pencil signed and dated. John Taylor Arms served as a naval officer during WWI and at the onset of WWII was ready to serve again, but did not meet the Navy's physical requirements. Instead, Arms created his "U.S. Navy Ship Series," to support the American war effort.

A fine sketch by Dexter Dawes measuring 10 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches on medium weight drawing paper. A small unfinished sketch of trees is on the reverse. Dawes spent many summers in the Marlboro, NH area drawing and painting the incredible natural beauty that surrounded him.
