Afternoon Tea

This is a very fine original oil on panel painting by Belgium artist Theodore Gerard (1829-1895) This interior scene of a mother and her children is titled: "Tea", the painting is signed "The Gerard, 1865" in the lower right corner. The painting measures 22X28 inches. On the back of the panel is written: "'The. Gerard Je soussigné déclare que le tableau ci conte est original. Bruxelles Décembre 1865.' , it translates to Gerard 1, the undersigned declare that this work is original Dec. 1865" The painting is in a modern custom frame.

River Scene at sunset

This is an original oil on canvas painting by European/American artist Hendrick Dirk Kruseman Van Elten. The subject of this painting is a river scene at sunset. It measures 12X22 inches, signed Kruseman Van Elten Lower right corner. The painting is in a period gilt frame. This painting was most likely from the late 19th century, circa 1870's.

The Forest Glade, Fontainbleu

This is an original oil on panel painting by French Barbizon master Narcisse Diaz de la Pena. Circa 1860, this view of a peasant woman in the forest has a panel size of 12 1/2X15 7/8 inches, it is signed lower right Diaz. "Diaz was born in Bordeaux to Spanish parents. At the age of ten, Diaz became an orphan, Díaz exhibited many pictures at the Paris Salon, and was decorated in 1851. During the Franco-German War he went to Brussels. After 1871, his works became fashionable and rose gradually in the estimation of collectors, and he worked constantly and successfully.

This is an original oil on paper modernist floral still life. No visible signature, The sight size is 13X10 1/2 inches, nicely framed with a linen mat and white fillet. The work looks to be early European 20th century. In the style of Odilon Redon. Very thickly painted. Over all frame measures 28X21 inches

Steeperton Tor and Taw Marsh Dartmoor

This is an original Gouache and watercolor painting by British artist Colton Robins. This painting is titled on the back, "Steeperton Tor and Taw Marsh" , Dartmoor. The painting is signed and dated 09 in the lower left corner. The image measures 4 3/4X7 inches. In the original frame and gold mat. The painting is in fine condition, the mat and frame should be replaced or at least rematted. This artist was well known for his studies of the Moors near Princetown.

Farm, Shropshire

A joyful and luminous painting of a proud farmer admiring his chickens. Signed and dated in the lower right. Painting measures 23 1/2 x 19 3/4 inches in what appears to be the original 34 x 30 inch gilt frame. There is a label on the frame below the image with the date, title, and artist's name. Alfred Banner was a West Midlands painter who excelled in painting landscapes and everyday genre scenes. He exhibited in galleries in London, Birmingham and Kidderminster until his death.

English Countryside

Attributed to Paul Sandby. Painting measures 5 1/2 x 7 3/4 inches. 1800's. A vibrant and energetic painting despite the gray palette. Paul Sandby, the brother of Thomas Sandby, was an English engraver and painter. He began his artistic career as a landscape painter and draftsman for the Scottish military. As a printmaker, Sandby popularized the use of aquatint, and was considered to be the father of British watercolors. In 1768 the brothers were both among the twenty-eight of the original members of the Royal Academy.

Oil on canvas, signed "Richet" in the lower right. Sight size measures 21 x 17 inches, housed in a tasteful 25 1/2 x 21 1/2 inch gold frame. Léon Richet was raised during the height of the Barbizon school and was influenced by the works of Rousseau. He was a prolific painter whose works appear in many collections.
