Head of a Girl
A fine original oil on canvas painting by Austrian American artist Emil Fuchs(1866-1929) . This painting measures 30X24 inches, it is signed and dated 1928 center left.
This was one of the last works that this artist painted as he died in 1929. On the back of the painting is a label from The Brooklyn Museum of art. Upon his death a number of paintings were donated to that museum. In the 1890's Fuchs moved to London where he met Lawrence Alma Tadema and was mentored by John Singer Sargent. He moved to the United States in 1905 and was hired primarily to paint portraits of wealthy socialites. He became a US citizen in 1924. The painting is housed in a hand made Guido Frame, with 22 K gold leafing.
