This print has strong contrast and captures the sunlight in the landscape, even hinting at movement in the trees.

Born into poverty, McBey was primarily self-taught, becoming a very well respected artist and leading figure of the British Etching Revival. He traveled extensively throughout Europe, America and the Middle East, creating remarkable etchings of the places he visited. This print has a unique perspective as well as a rich drypoint burr.

Plate destroyed. This print has a rich drypoint burr and dramatic use of light and shadow. Herman Webster was an American artist who moved to Paris in the early 20th century to attend the Academy Julien. There he studied under J. P. Laurens and Eugene Bejot, and was also greatly influenced by the etchings of Whistler and Meryon.
