The Lady and the Merman

A very cool triptych wood engraving by Barry Moser, image size 6 x 12 1/2 inches, 1977, pencil signed. This triptych is titled "The Lady and the Merman" and is accompanied by the following verse "He sailed off on his great ship... She sat there still as the rock... Up from the depths came the merman..."

Ruffed Grouse

A beautiful miniature New England landscape with a pair of grouse by Peterborough, NH artist Nora S. Unwin. Wood engraving on Japan paper, image size 2 3/8 x 3 1/2 inches, published in 1947 for Kiernan's 'Footnotes on Nature', cat: McGoldrick-149, a small edition of 12 impressions, pencil signed, numbered and titled, framed. Nora Unwin grew up in England and studied art with Leon Underwood, then at the Kingston School of Art and the Royal College of Art before moving to the United States in the 1940s, settling in Wellesley, MA and Peterborough, NH.

Homestake Foundry

This 1985 image by Barry Moser titled "Homestake Foundry" measures 4 x 7 inches, in an edition of 350 and is pencil signed by the artist on the lower margin. This is a series of 25 images portraying gold mining activities from America, Africa and Australia. Moser, from Tennessee, became a graphic artist and printmaker, studying under Leonard Baskin and Jack Coughlin. In 1990 he became the "head of studio art" at the Rhode Island School of Design. His prints have been exhibited at the Berkshire Museum, the Los Angeles National Print Show and the Library of Congress National Print Exhibit.
