A very fine etching with aquatint by American sporting artist William Joseph Schaldach, image size 5 7/8 x 6 7/8 inches, published in 1937 in an edition of 50, pencil signed and titled. Schaldach followed his lifelong passion for hunting, fishing and the outdoors in his many etchings, aquatints and drypoints. Moving from his home state of Indiana to NYC, he sold fishing tackle during the day and attended the Art Students League during the evening where he learned his craft under the watchful eye of John Sloan and George Bridgman. Schaldach was a member of the Salmagundi Club, Society of American Etchers, and the Independent Society of Printmakers. His work was exhibited at Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1939 New York Worlds Fair, and the American Watercolor Society.
