Meadow Sketch

Very nice sketch of a tree, standing alone in a meadow, with clouds in the background. This Dexter Dawes pencil sketch is dated 1913 and measures 6 x 9 inches and has sketching notes in the artists' hand on the lower margin.

Stand of Maples

A very fine sketch of a stand of maples by the artist, Dexter Dawes. Summering in Marlboro, NH, he is known for his lithographs, drawings and paintings of Mt. Monadnock and surrounding views. This image measures 11 x 7 5/8 inches and is done on a lightweight paper.

Christmas Card 1944

Designed by the artist for the family's 1944 Christmas card, done on lightweight paper. It measures 7 1/4 x 8 3/8 inches. Dawes spent many years in the Marlboro, NH area drawing and painting the incredible natural beauty that surrounded him.

White Pine

This drawing by Dexter Dawes measures 21 1/4 x 14 1/2 inches and is dated "July 7, 1929" on the lower margin. Dawes was born in Englewood, NJ and went on to study at New York City's Art Student League. He summered in Marlboro, NH surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of Mount Monadnock which became the inspiration for many of his lithographs and drawings. He belonged to a number of associations including the National Arts Club
