This is a very rare find.  The original pen and ink study for the well known etching, The Sussex by British artist James McBey.  This was one of his best known WWI works.  The subject is the Sinking of the Sussex a British Mail Boat that was torpedoed by a German Submarine in the English Channel.  The Bow was blown off and the wreck beached on the sands near Boulogne.  This pen and ink is hand signed and located as Boulogne and dated 1916.  McBey was on site and did many studies of this scene of destruction.  This is one of the most finished studies done before he created the well known etching.  The image measures 8 1/4X15 1/2 inches.  Drawn on a watermarked laid type sheet.  The drawing needs restoration, foxing marks throughout the sheet.

This is a fine original watercolor painting by British artist David Cox Sr. 1783-1859.  This painting of an English Cottage with a child at the gate measures 8 3/4X12 1/16 inches.  Signed and identified  on the back of the sheet.  This painting was last shown at Davis Galleries as par of a show of British watercolors from  the collection of Mr. Gordon Douglas.  in 1967.  The collectors stamp is also on the back of the sheet.  Labels from Davis Galleries are on the back of the frame.  Nicely framed with French mat.

This is an original pencil signed drawing by American artist Gifford Beal.  This image created circa 1930 as part of his well known Circus images.  The image was drawn with pencil on a brown toned sheet.  This image measures 16 1/2X13 1/2 inches.  Nicely framed.  This drawing came to us directly from the Family of the artist.

This is an interesting original drawing of a european fountain, it is unsigned but certainly reminds one of a number of post impressionist artists. We are unable to tell where this image occurred but it shows many people strolling around the Fountain. It is pencil, charcoal and whiting. The image measures 12X15 inches, drawing on a thin japan type paper tipped to a cardboard backing.

This is a fine impressionistic drawing of farmers leading their Cow, to market?  We are unsure who the artist was, this image is unsigned.  The style suggests the work of the Woodstock artist Yasuo Kuniyoshi.  This drawing was done with litho crayon and ink.  The sheet measures 7 3/4X12 inches.  Drawn on a thin Japan type sheet.
