The Black Cloak, Ms. Paul Mary Mellon, 1944

This is a fine example of the excellent portraiture by British artist Gerald Brockhurst.  THis portrait created and printed in 1944 is of Mary Mellon, the wife of well known founder of Washington's National Gallery of Art Paul Mellon.  The image measures 10X8 inches, and is hand signed and dated in pencil lower right border.  Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.  A beautiful rich impression, Brockhurst at his best...
