Hauling the Net Aboard

This 1926 etching by master printmaker Arthur Briscoe measures 7 x 11 7/8 inches and is signed in ink and editioned as 38/75. Lable on backing with provenance from C.W. Kraushaar Galleries, NY. Members of the crew aboard the trawler "Guess Again" concentrate on hauling the days catch aboard. The forground figure is "Old Sam" a figure Briscoe used in many of his images. This richly inked image was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1927.

Bandits in the Desert

This etching by the British artist, Edward Julius Detmold measures 8 1/4 x 15 3/4 inches, pencil signed and dated 1927, numbered 13/75, framed. Edward Julius Detmold's artistic talents were apparent at an early age. He and his twin brother, Charles Maurice Detmold, were both considered well beyond their years in their artistic abilities, their watercolors were being exhibited at the Royal Academy by age 13, the youngest artists to be admitted at the time.

Etching, soft-ground, and aquatint, 1905, image size 12 1/2 x 9 3/4 inches, edition of 70, Catalog H-18, pencil signed l.r., "W Lee Hankey imp". Artist's monogram in image. Edition of 6 proofs in monochrome, and 70 in color. A young girl holds a bird in her lap in a quiet garden setting.

Dulieu's Pig Farm

Etching, image size 6 3/8 x 8 inches, 1908, Hardie 13. Signed and annotated in pencil "Dulieu's Pig Farm. Edn. 50. 1908. / Proof printed for me by Sir Frank Short, Dec. 1908." Provenance: Baldwin-Wallace College.

Adam and Eve

Etching, 11 1/4 x 8 5/8 inches, pencil signed lower right. He was involved in the foundation of the famed Atelier 17 studio, an important influence for many artists, including Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti, and Marc Chagall.

Piazza

Etching, image size 7 7/8 x 9 1/4 inches, c. 1940, pencil signed. A rich impression printed on a medium weight wove type paper with ample margins.
