This is an original two color, chiarscuro wood engraving by Mexican artist Amador Lugo. It was created and printed circa 1950. The title of this work is: "Arboles", trees. The image measures
4 1/2X6 1/4 inches. It is hand signed in pencil, titled and editioned as 7/10. Printed on a thin japan type laid paper.

A New England Stream

A fine original wood engraving by American artist Thomas Nason. The title of this piece is: "A New England Stream" It was created and printed in 1951 in an edition of 400. This image was originally sold through Associated American Artists in New York. The image measures 5 5/16X9 7/8 inches, printed on a medium weight wove type paper. Excellent condition hand signed by the artist lower right. This image appears in the BPL catalog as image number 489.

Wood engraving on maple from 1932. "C L imp" blindstamp in the lower left. "Trial proof" in pencil in the lower left. Only a few proofs were done in 1932. Printed in the 1970's by Letterio Calapai. Edition of 100. Catalog: Burne Jones 91. Plate measures 5 1/2 x 7 inches on 9 1/4 x 11 inch paper. A good impression of a bold and dramatic print with strong, even blacks. The muscular yet poised figure in a moment of nighttime contemplation invites the viewer to wonder what he is thinking about.

A wood engraving in 5 colors on Japan paper from 1901. V/V. Plate measures 10 1/4 x 15 1/4 inches in a 18 3/4 x 23 inch gold frame. Plate signed in the lower left, pencil signed in the lower right. Catalog: Lotz-Brissonneau 271. Auguste-Louis Lepere was one of the leading French printmakers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He began studying printmaking at the age of 13 with Joseph Burn Smeeton in Paris and quickly made a name for himself with his innovative style and technically brilliant etchings and wood engravings. A vivid and unique print, full of life and color.
