The image depicts the cliffs along the coast of Penestin, France. Plate measures 9 1/2 x 6 1/4 inches on 15 x 9 5/8 inch watermarked wove type paper. Collector's stamp on back. This print has very fine engraved lines and a very whimsical style. Laboureur studied at the Academie Julian under Auguste Lepere before traveling extensively throughout Germany, Italy and Greece.
Pencil signed, titled, and dated "1943". Edition of 60. Catalog: BPL 363. Plate measures 6 x 10 inches on 9 x 12 inch wove type paper. This print has lovely contrast and exquisite detail, displaying his incredible skill with the smallest of lines: observe the tiny crosshatching in the shadows on the far left of the house.
This 17th century engraving by the Dutch artist, Cornelius Visscher, measures 9 7/8 x 8 1/2 inches, c.1655, on laid paper with partial collectors seal on back. "A.V. Oftade pinxit et excud., C. Visscher fecit aqua forti. and Ger. Valk Excudit" printed on bottom margin. Born into the city of Haarlem during the early decades of the 17th century where a diverse artistic community prospered, Visscher became one of the most accomplished and celebrated printmakers of the time.
