Edward MacDowell

This is an original woodblock print by American artist Howard Simon. It is a portrait of Edward MacDowell, the composer. The image measures 10X8 inches. Printed in 1918 on a handmade paper. This woodblock print is signed by the artist within the image lower right and also a facsimile signature by MacDowell lower border. Simon created a series of portraits of some of the most important American composers.

Shore Leave

This is an original pencil signed and titled woodengraving by American artist Bernard Brussel-Smith. The title of this work is "Shore Leave", it was created and printed in 1941. It has an image size of 6X4 inches and was printed in an edition of only 50 signed proofs.

Breton Types

This is an original wood engraving by American artist Grace Albee. The title of this work is "Breton Types", circa 1940 this wood engraving has an image size of 2 3/16X3 3/16 inches. It is unsigned but does have the artists estate stamp lower left border. Printed on a thin Japan type paper.

This is a very fine original wood engraving by American artist Thomas W. Nason. The title of this work is "Little Farm", it was created and printed in 1955 and sold through Associated American Artists in New York. The print is hand signed and dated in pencil lower right border. A beautiful and clear impression.

Son 7

An original woodengraving by American artist Isac Friedlander, the title of this work is "Son #7" which refers to the Shakespheare Sonnet no 7 which reads: "When the gracious light of the sun rises in the east, each person on earth pays homage to it by gazing upon all its sacred majesty. " This image is pencil signed in the lower border in pencil. The image measures 7 1/2X5 1/2 inches. This wood engraving was created and printed in 1931.

Primeval

A very fine original wood engraving by American artist Isac Freidlander. The title of this work is: "Primeval" It was created and printed in 1948. The image measures 9X10 1/8 inches. Pencil signed and titled in the lower margin. Printed on a medium weight wove type paper. Isac Friedlander (1890-1968) was born in Latvia. In 1912 he went to Italy where he met and worked with Russian artist Maxim Gorky. During this period he also received his only art training, studying etching, drawing and relief printing at the Academy of Rome.

Derelict

Tobacco Loopers

This is an original hand signed wood engraving by American artist Clare Leighton. The title of this work is "Tobacco Loopers", created and printed in 1942. This proof is editioned as 13/50, The image measures 7 1/2X5 1/2 inches. Although originally from England Leighton relocated to America in 1939. As a well known illustrator she negotiated with The Macmillan Company to create a book about the American South: a region that had fascinated her since her earliest visits to this country.

Warm Afternoon

This is an original hand signed woodengraving by American artist Nora S Unwin. The title of this work is "Warm Afternoon", it was created and printed in 1951 and was used as the Presentation print of the American Woodcut Society. This wood engraving is hand titled in pencil and inscribed as "Artists Proof" The image measures 5X7 3/4 inches. Nice condition, two bits of old tape at the upper edges of the sheet well away from the image area. A very fine and detailed image of a mother and Child on a summer afternoon.
