Pont Saint Michel

Etching and aquatint by the Czech artist, Tavik F. Simon, measuring 12 1/2 x 15 5/8 inches, pencil signed, cat: Novak-455, numbered 73, edition of 300, published by "Les Graveurs Modernes, Paris. T.F.Simon was born in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and traveled extensively throughout Europe, as well as Asia and the U.S. He lived in Paris from 1905-1913, then returned to Prague to teach at the Academy of Fine Arts. Simon was an exceptional painter and printmaker, and is best known for his atmospheric color etchings and aquatints.

Sunset At Cattawade, Suffolk

A lovely scene of evening light descending upon the village of Cattawade, by the Scottish artist, James McBey, measuring 6 1/4 x 10 7/8 inches, inked signed, pencil titled and dated, 1923, cat: Hardie-217, collectors stamp on back. Born into poverty McBey was primarily self-taught, becoming a very well respected artist and leading figure of the British Etching Revival. He traveled extensively throughout Europe, America and the Middle East, creating remarkable etchings of the places he visited.
