This 1928 original etching by Arthur Briscoe measures 13 3/8 x 8 3/4 inches, pencil signed and numbered, 10/75, cat: Laver 116, plate titled and dated, published by H.C. Dickins. This spectacular image was created at the height of Briscoe's popularity, depicting the dangerous and challenging daily routines aboard a seafaring vessel. Briscoe studied at the Slade Art School and the Academy Julian in Paris and then spent the rest of his time sailing, becoming one of the most prominent British marine artists of the 20th century.
This etching by the British artist Edward Julius Detmold, measures 7 3/4 x 16 inches, pencil signed and numbered 44/60, 1927, framed. Edward Julius Detmold's artistic talents were apparent at an early age. He and his twin brother, Charles Maurice Detmold, were both considered well beyond their years in their artistic abilities, their watercolors were being exhibited at the Royal Academy by age 13, the youngest artists to be admitted at the time.
This is a very fine original etching with drypoint by Marine artist Lt.-Com. Rowland Langmaid. The image size is 3 1/2 x 13 inches, c. 1930, edition of 150, pencil signed and titled, with the original label.
