Le Moulin de Baires

Etching, image size 7 5/8 x 11 1/2 inches, 1926, plate signed l.l. "G. Leheutre", pencil signed l.r. "G. Leheutre" and editioned as 23, publishers stamp "Sagot" l.r. Known as "the French Whistler", Leheutre switched from painting to printmaking after he saw Whistlers work. Member of the group of Nabis, Post-Impressionist avant-garde artists who set the pace for fine arts and graphic arts in France in the 1890's.

Westminster

This is an atmospheric original etching by British Marine artist and Lieutenant-Commander of the Royal Navy, Rowland Langmaid. Etching with drypoint, image size 5 5/8 x 8 inches, c. 1930, pencil signed and titled. A beautiful image of the silhouette of Big Ben rising above the busy Thames River.

The Mill

This is a very fine original etching by British artist Edward Julius Detmold. Image size 5 3/4 x 11 3/8 inches, c. 1925, pencil signed. Edward Julius Detmold's artistic talents were apparent at an early age. He and his twin brother, Charles Maurice Detmold, were both considered well beyond their years in their artistic abilities. Their watercolors were being exhibited at the Royal Academy by age 13, the youngest artists to be admitted at the time.

From the Latin Quarter

This 1907 etching and aquatint by Tavik F. Simon measures 12 3/4 x 16 1/2 inches, pencil signed, numbered "81", edition of 150, cat: Novak-69, G. Petit publisher's blindstamp on l.l. T.F.Simon was born in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and traveled extensively throughout Europe, as well as Asia and the U.S. He lived in Paris from 1905-1913, then returned to Prague to teach at the Academy of Fine Arts. Simon was an exceptional painter and printmaker, and is best known for his atmospheric color etchings and aquatints.
