Etching, image size 5 7/8 x 6 1/2 inches, 1894, cat: Schwarz-7, pencil signed. Corinth began his career studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and went on to study under Bouguereau at the Academie Julian in Paris. He later returned to Germany and became a member and eventually president of the Berlin "Sezession." Corinth is best known for his prints and paintings of figures and portraits.

The Pool

Etching with drypoint by Ernest Haskell measures 7 x 12 inches. Made in 1915, printed on wove-type paper. Pencil signed and titled. Ernest Haskell was born in Connecticut and in the early 20th century spent time in both New York and Paris. While in Europe he met Whistler and was inspired to take up etching; his style was greatly influenced by the work of Whistler as well as that of Rembrandt, Da Vinci and Durer.

Ostend Horse

Print 33 in an edition of 100. Pencil signed and editioned. Plate signed and dated 1926. Plate measures 7 x 9 inches on 9 1/4 x 12 3/4 inch watermarked wove type paper. Catalog: Appleby 125. Featured in Fine Prints of the Year 1927.

Woodland Nymph

Etching, image size 8 x 5 3/4 inches, pencil signed l.r. "Warren Davis" on wove paper. Davis studied at the Art Students League in New York and became known for his etchings of idealized female figures. Many were used on the covers of Vanity Fair and Life magazines. Later in his career Davis exhibited in Europe and the United States including the Pennsylvania Academy and the Salmagundi Club.
