Etchings

This is a great architectural etching by Scottish artist D Y Cameron, from his 'North Italian Set'. The image size is 9 3/8 x 4 inches, 1894, no. 6 in the 'North Italian Set', cat: Rinder- 209, pencil signed. According to Rinder, this is a corner of the Palazzo Camello, Fondamenta dei Mori, Venice.

This 1927, original drypoint by Louis Rosenberg measures 8 1/4 x 11 3/4 inches and is pencil signed on the l.r. Louis C. Rosenberg was a successful artist and architect; he studied at several prestigious Universities- The University of Oregon, Eugene, the American Academy in Rome, the Royal College of Art, London, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and continued to practice both art and architecture throughout his long career. These walls were built for protection from invaders to the north of Rome by the Emperor Aurelian in 270 AD.

Wonderful etching by Adolphe Beaufrere depicting everyday life on a river. Measuring 7 1/2 x 10 3/4 inches in an edition of 60, it is pencil signed with a blindstamp of the publisher, Sagot, on the lower right.

This is an atmospheric original etching by Stephen Csoka, image size 7 3/4 x 10 1/2 inches, published c. 1940 in a small edition of 30 impressions, pencil signed, numbered and titled. A very richly inked impression on a cream colored laid type paper.

Etching after Anton Mauve, image size: 6 1/8 x 8 1/2 inches, signature "A Mauve" in the plate lower right. Painting in the Hague School, Mauve is known for his scenes of youthful shepherds and sheep. He also briefly taught Vincent van Gogh.

This wonderful etching by Louis Szanto measures 13 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches. Pencil signed. AAA label with artist provenance included. Szanto was a Hungarian born painter and etcher, studying in Vienna and Budapest before WW1. After the war he traveled through Europe gaining an international reputation for his paintings and etchings. In the early 1930's, Szanto moved to the United States where he worked on art projects commissioned by the W.P.A. He created many traditional American views and often worked in collaboration with the artist, Andrew Karoly.

An artist's proof pencil signed etching in green ink by Leonard Baskin, created in 1969 for "The Hippolytos" by Euripedes, published by Gehenna Press. Image size 11 3/4 x 7 1/4 inches, signed "Baskin" lower right, notated "A. P." lower left, cat: Fern & O'Sullivan- 533.

This 14 3/8 x 11 5/8 inches color etching is printed on thin Japan paper, edition of 100. Pencil signed and editioned. Provenance Arthur Ackerman & Son Inc., New York.
