This 1938 etching by the American artist John Costigan measures 9 x 11 3/4 inches, pencil signed and titled. This image is illustrated in Thomas Cravens, "A Treasury of American Prints", plate # 26. Costigan was known for his evocative images of hardworking farmers and their families, often set against the backdrop of the fields and landscapes of their daily lives. Costigan chose the common man as subject matter in many of his works. In this image his three children fish in a stream that ran through their upstate New York property. AAA label included with artist provenance.
