River Scene

This is a very fine lithograph of the town of New Hope, PA by American artist Stow Wengenroth. The image size is 5 3/8 x 9 3/4 inches, published in 1943 in an edition of 40, cat: Stuckey-119, pencil signed. Stow Wengenroth was one of the preeminent lithographers of 20th century America, known for his atmospheric, incredibly detailed images of the New England landscape and coastline. He studied at the Art Students League and the Grand Central School of Art in New York, and in the summers studied with John Carlson in Woodstock NY and George Ennis in Eastport ME.

This lithograph by the American artist, Wilfred Readio measures 9 7/8 x 12 inches, plate initialed, pencil titled and numbered. Readio was a painter, lithographer and educator, known for his scenes of Pittsburgh, PA. and the American West. He was also the Academic Drawing teacher at the Carnegie Institute of the Arts, Andy Warhol being one of his students.

The Island

C. 1932. Plate measures 9 x 6 3/4 inches on 11 1/2 x 9 inch wove type paper. Edition of 31. The artist has scraped away parts of the plate, creating an interesting modernist depiction of clouds. Plate signed and dated in the lower right, pencil signed in the lower right. Catalog: Barker 123.

Johnson's Willow

Early lithograph, image size 10 3/4 x 8 1/8 inches, published in 1829 "From a Sketch made in 1828," printed by Hulmandel. The lettering at the bottom is a dedication "To THE REV. HENRY WHITE M.A./Sacristan of Lichfield Cathedral/This View of JOHNSON'S WILLOW is inscribed/by his obliged humble servant/Lichfield Aug. 1829 JOHN HEWITT."
