This is a truly stunning, lushly detailed original wood engraving by American artist Barry Moser. The image size is 13 3/4 x 15 inches, 1974, signed titled and dated within the image, pencil signed.

Sunday Afternoon

The Danish painter and wood engraver, Aksel Jorgensen, created this 12 5/8 x 8 3/8 inch print in the early part of the 19th century. As a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen he integrated the graphic arts curriculum into its fine arts program attracting many well known illustrators of the day.

A very interesting wood engraving by Leonard Baskin, measuring 8 1/4 x 5 3/4 inches, cat: Fern & O'Sullivan -371, edition 250, 1959, published on handmade Amalfi paper, from the series "The Auguries of Innocence" by William Blake. After serving in the Navy during WWII, Baskin began his career as a printmaker in the late 1940s, beginning with simple linocuts, but quickly progressing to dramatic wood engravings, then later etchings and lithographs.
