20th Century European Prints

This lithograph by Hermine David measures 14 1/4 x 16 1/2 inches. Created in 1932, plate signed. David was known as one of the most outstanding women painters of the early 20th. century. Born and raised in Paris, at the age of 16 was accepted into the Ecole Des Beaux Arts, later going on to study at the Academy Julien. Equally well-known as a miniaturist and printmaker, she went on to have a long successful career as an artist and was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1932.

Etching is pencil signed and dedicated in the lower left. c. 1910. Printed on laid-type paper. 7 x 9 3/4. Oliver Hall was inspired by Sir Francis Seymour Haden, and, like Haden, his subjects are typically naturalistic landscapes.

Etching, image size 5 78 x 10 12 inches, c. 1910, edition of 50, pencil signed and numbered below the image, titled in the lower margin. A delicately rendered landscape on a medium weight wove type paper with ample margins.

This is an original lithograph by German artist Ludwig von Hufmann (1861-1945)  This view of the River Elbe near Pillnitz titled: Elbufer bei Pillnitz was created and printed circa 1920.  Pencil signed lower left border and numbered as 15/15.  The image measures 7X10 1/2 inches.

Dry point etching, image size 5 7/8 x 7 7/8 inchces, pencil siged

This is a fine pencil signed lithograph by French artist Charles Huard.  One image from his series of WWI.  The image measures 8X11 3/4 inches.  The title is: The Fench Soldiers Home, created and printed circa 1918.  Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.

Etching, image size: 4 3/4 x 6 1/4 inches, c. 1876, signed in plate, probably a late or posthumous impression (Faxon - 6)

This is a fine original pencil signed and numbered etching by French artist Auguste Brouet.  The subject is The Chiffonniers, (Rag Pickers).  Created and printed circa 1920  this etching done on a medium weight laid type paper measures a platemark of 4 3/4X6 3/4 inches.  Numbered 3/100.  Very fine condition.

This etching is a mystery to us.  It is hand signed in pencil lower border but we cannot match the signature with any of our known artists.  We think this is 20th century German School.  This etching of a young boy, just finishing swimming with his friends.  The etching measures 5X3 1/2 inches.  Very nice condition printed with a sepia toned ink.

Etching, image size 5 5/8 x 9 7/8 inches, pencil signed. Born in England and educated in Cambridge, Gaskell studied art in London and Italy before studying under Sir Frank Short at the Royal College of Art.

This is an original pencil signed etching by Emil Orlik.  From his portfolio Aus Agypten created which was published in 1922.  The image measures 3 1/2X1 3/4 inches.  On a sheet size 9 1/4X7 inches  Printed with a warm toned ink on a laid type sheet.

This is an original miniature etching by Czech artist Emil Orlik.  The subject is a woman in profile, hand signed in pencil.  The image measures 2 1/8X1 1/4 inches.  Sheet size is: 7 1/4X4 7/8 inches, Printed on a medium weight laid type sheet.   Unframed.

This is a fine original etching with aquatint by European artist Ferdinand Kozow.  An early 20th century etching, pencil signed.  The image measures 7 1/413 5/8 inches.  Printed on a chine collet adhered to a thicker base sheet.
