This is an original etching by French artist Alphonse Legros (1837-1911)  The title of this work is: Les Laveuses (Washer Women),  also known as Le Lavoir (Washhouse)   It was created and printed in 1904.  Pencil signed lower right, also with the Bliss collectors stamp.  The image measures 6 1/2X 4 3/4 inches.  It appears in the Bliss catalog as image number 602.  It was printed in an edition of 82.  Printed on a medium weight laid type sheet.

This is a very fine original pencil signed wood engraving by British artist George Soper.  This winter scene of a Farmer feeding the cattle has an image size of 5X7 1/2 inches.  Nicely framed with archival materials.

This is an original drypoint etching by German artist Ernest Oppler.  The subject is: Along the Riva degli Schiavoni, Venice,  created and printed C.1920.  This impression is hand signed in pencil and numbered 42/100.  The image measures 6 1/4X9 1/4 inches.  Printed on a medium weight laid type sheet.

This is a pencil signed etching by German artist Ernest Oppler.  The title is: Coquette, created and printed in 1921, numbered 33/100.  The image measures 5 3/4X8 1/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet. Oppler did not seek to portray “dance” as a concept, but rather the distinct personality of each dancer while on stage. Because of this, he became very familiar with some of the greatest ballet stars of the era such as Anna Pavlova, Vaslav Nijinsky, and Tamara Karsavina.  His obsession with capturing dancers in motion became so great that he even developed a lighted pen in order to sketch in darkened theaters during performances.

Wonderful etching by Adolphe Beaufrere depicting everyday life on a river. Measuring 7 1/2 x 10 3/4 inches in an edition of 60, it is pencil signed with a blindstamp of the publisher, Sagot, on the lower right.

Pencil signed etching on laid-type paper c. 1929. 7 1/2 x 13 1/2 inches on 11 x 17 1/4 paper. Malcolm Osborne was known for his prints of landscapes, urban views and portraits. Between 1901-1906 he studied etching and engraving under Sir Frank Short at the Royal College of Art in South Kensington. During 1918 he was elected Associate Engraver of the Royal Academy and succeeded Sir Frank Short as the Head of the etching and engraving school when Short retired, and he was elected a full member of the Royal Academy in 1926.
