This image measures 6 7/8 x 9 7/8 inches and is pencil signed, c.1930. Philip Kappel was born in Hartford, Connecticut and educated at the Pratt Institute in New York. He was employed as an artist for several shipping companies and much of his work documents these ships and their sailors. At age 26, Kappel was the youngest person ever admitted to "Who's Who in America."

This Sears Gallagher etching measures 13 x 6 inches and is pencil signed on the lower left margin. A ghostly image of the Boston Custom House Tower looms in the background contrasting with a much more detailed foreground of city dwellers going about their daily routine.
