20th Century European Prints

This is a fine etching with drypoint by British artist D.Y. Cameron.  The subject here is Notre Dame Dinant, created and printed in 1907, this is the second state of three.  Hand signed in pencil,  first sold through Arthur Harlow in New York.  The image measures 13 1/2X6 3/4 inches.  The sheet is laid down on a support sheet, borders are 1/4 inches wide all around.

This is a fine original lithograph by British artist Clara Klinghoffer.  This study of a seated nude has an image size of  13 3/4X11 7/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet, hand signed in pencil lower right.

This is a drypoint etching from 1912. Plate measures 13 1/4 x 9 1/2 inches in a 21 1/2 x 17 1/2 inch gold frame. Edition of 200, from the Paris series. Signed in the plate in the lower right, with the publisher's blindstamp, le Cercle Moderne, in the lower left. Probably printed by the artist in black ink on cream wove paper with full margins, as issued. A fine impression with a rich drypoint burr.

This is a fine drypoint etching by British artist David Muirhead Bone.  The title is: The Jetty, Gorleston, created and printed in 1934 in an edition of 99.  The image measures 6 7/8X10 15/16 inches.  "Gorleston-on-Sea is located on the Norfolk Coast near Lowestoft."  This etching is hand signed in pencil and is nicely framed.

This is an etching by British artist Robert S. Austin titled: High Bridge pencil signed lower border.  This etching measures 4 3/8X5 1/8 inches, printed on medium weight laid type paper.  Created and printed in 1928 in an edition of 75.  This image was illustrated in the Salaman book, Modern Masters of Etching.  Dodgson 77.

This is an original etching by Austrian artist T.F. Simon.  The title Breton Fish Saleswoman was created and printed in 1912.  The image measures 8X9 1/2 inches.  Hand signed in pencil.  This impression is number 32 from the edition of 150.  The image appears in the Novak catalog as image number 191

This is a fine drypoint etching by British artist William Walcot 1874-1943.  The title is "The Forth" it was created and printed in 1922 as part of his series titled "The Arteries of Great Britain.  The image measures 4X10 1/2 inches and came to us in the original gilt frame from that period.  Hand signed in pencil lower border.

This is a fine line engraving by French artist Jean Emile  Laboureur.  The title of this work is La Photographe, it was created and printed in 1923.  This impression is numbered 40/55.  The image measures 4 3/4X3 3/4 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  Hand signed in pencil lower left border.   Though Laboureur was initially inspired by Lautrec and the Primitivism of Paul Gaugin, he is considered to be the first printmaker to be strongly influenced Cubism. By the end of World War I, the artist had gained wide acclaim as a book designer and illustrator. The artist died on June 16, 1943 in Pénestin, France

This is an original hand colored engraving by French artist Mily Possoz.  The title is: Jeunes Filies a la fenetre.  Created and printed in 1930, editioned as 26/75, hand signed in pencil.  the image measures 9 1/8X8 1/2 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper with publishers blindstamp/Paris lower right border

Drypoint on laid Whatman paper, image size 10 1/4 x 10 1/8 inches, 1928, pencil signed and numbered 49/50.

This is an original pencil signed and titled drypoint etching by French artist Edgar Chahine.  The title of this work is Nina, Venise it was created and printed in 1923.  This imagre appears in the Tabanelli catalog as image number 368.  A fine impression printed on a toned chine-colle adhered to a thicker supporting sheet.  The image measures 12 1/4X8 1/4 inches.

This is a rare early drypoint etching by British artist Stanley Anderson.  The title is: Perivale, a small town outside of London.  This etching was created and printed in 1911.  The image measures 5 3/4X9 5/8 inches.  Hand signed in pencil lower border and titled lower left border.  Printed on a medium weight watermarked with initials, laid type sheet.  Fine use of plate tone in the sky area.

This is an original color etching by Austrian artist Tavik F. Simon (1877-1942)  The title of this work is: Flower Girl , Paris, it was created and printed in an edition of 300 by Estampe Moderne, Paris in 1925.   The image measures 11 1/2X14 1/2 inches.  hand signed and numbered 67 in pencil in the lower border.  This image appears in the Novak catalog as image number 420...

This is an original etching by British artist Stanley Anderson.  It is titled: The George Inn Public House, Southwark.  It was created and printed in 1919 in an edition of 175.  The image measures 9 3/4X12 inches, pencil signed lower right and has the blindstamp Fine Art Trade Guild.  It was published by Henry Graves.  "The George Inn of Borough High Street in Southwark is the only surviving galleried coaching inn in London.  It served as an outdoor theatre in Elizabethan times."  This image appears in the RAofA catalog as image number 96.  Good condition, but we a weakened platemark on the left side, most likely from the printing press pressure.
