The Old Peep Toad Mill

Watercolor on paper adhered to mat board, 8 x 10 1/4 inches, signed on the back and inscribed "Old Peep Toad Mill / North S[cit]uate, RI / Aug. 5, 1914." The town name is hard to make out, but there is an old Peep Toad Mill in East Killingly, Connecticut, not far from the Rhode Island state line. Hays had a studio in Providence, RI, and is known for painting bucolic subjects.

Mountain Landscape

This watercolor landscape by Horace Burdick measures 4 7/8 x 6 3/4 inches and is signed on the lower left and matted. Burdick attended the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston and was known throughout his career as a portrait and landscape painter of oils and watercolors. He did many White Mountain scenes as well as New England coastal scenes. This image is from the artists estate.

The Long Lane

Watercolor on paper, 4 1/2 x 5 3/8 inches, monogrammed lower left. Housed in its original frame. The original display label on the back lists the artist, the title and the artist's address of "30 Park Place, Pawtucket," Rhode Island.

Harvest Time

A well done watercolor of an Italian harvesting scene measuring 7 1/4 x 10 1/4 inches. It is signed on the l.r. but at this time we are unable to decipher it. Matted and framed. (M)

This watercolor sketch of Hiroshima by Shigehiko Ishikawa measures 9 5/8 x 13 3/4 inches, is signed, titled and dated Aug. 11, 1951. Artist signature on reverse.

Ebb Tide

Watercolor on paper, sight size 13 3/4 x 11 1/2 inches, c. 1960s, signed in the lower right corner, in the original silver metal frame with the artist's stamp on the back. Wotiz graduated from Brown University and became known for her oils and watercolors of the New England landscape and shoreline. She was a member of the North Shore Arts Association, the Concord Art Association and the Western Maine Art Group. (M)
