Hudson River Docks With New York in the Distance

Paul Daniel Ortlip was a well known landscape and portrait artist from Fort Lee, NJ. Born into an artistic family, he studied in NY and Paris. After serving in the military he became the participating artist for NASA, the official US Navy Artist and was first commissioned by the White House to paint portraits of the astronauts. Later, he also did a portrait of John F. Kennedy. His works are housed in the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum and the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library.
