This is an original etching and aquatint by French artist Georges Rouault. From his Miserere series.  Plate 30: "Nous . . . c'est en sa mort que nous avons été baptisés" / ["Know ye not, that] so many of us [as were batised into Jesus Christ] were baptised into his death?" [John 13: 34] (C & R 83e). Original aquatint, drypoint, burnisher, and roulette. 450 impressions signed bottom left (the date of this print is not visible and there are no pencil-signed proofs) for the Miserere, one of the greatest print cycles of all time. Here we are shown St John the Baptist baptising Jesus while the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove hovers above, confirming the words of St John in plate 28. Image size: 21 1/2X 16 1/2 inches.

Original aquatint, drypoint, burnisher, roulette, scraper, 1927. 450 impressions for the Miserere, Rouault's masterpiece and one of the most important series of the twentieth century. Signed in the plate and dated 1927 at lower center left (there are no pencil-signed proofs). A beautiful impression of this climactic image. Image size: 23X17 inches.

This is a fine detailed etching by American artist John Taylor Arms.  This image from his Spanish Church series is titled: La Colegiata, Toro, it was created and printed in 1935 in an edition of 153 impressions.  This pencil signed image measures 9 3/4X12 3/4 inches.  It is inscribed, gifted to: Mr. and Mrs Andrew Daglish (The British artist and Friend of Arms)  Printed on an antique laid type paper.  This impression was printed by David Strang, one of Arm's most trusted printers of his editions.

This is a fine woodcut print by Jamaican artist Albert Huie.  This image is hand signed in pencil and titled: Seaside.  The image measures 9X6 1/2 inches.  Albert Huie (1920-2010) was a seminal figure in the formation and development of a national Jamaican artistic identity, overcoming the hurdles of a colonial-based system of race and class distinctions to become the first native-born Jamaican artist to attain international renown and respect. Working primarily in the areas of landscape, portraiture, and figurative art, he established a multiple award-winning career that spanned seven decades and earned him the title of “the Father of Jamaican Painting.”

Simon.  The title is: Charles Bridge in Winter, Prague, created and printed in 1916 in an edition of 100.  A large work by Simon measuring an image of 15 3/4X20 5/8 inches.  A finely detailed work.  Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.  Novak 255

This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist Frank Benson.  This etching is titled:Swinging In, created and printed in 1927 in an edition of 150.  The image measures 7 3/4X11 3/4 inches.  Printed on Whatman paper.  This etching is in the Ordeman catalog as image number 272.

This is a scarce original pencil signed mezzotint by American artist James D. Smillie.  The title is Double Hollyhocks, it was created and printed in 1889.  The image measures 8 5/8X5 5/8 inches.  Printed on a chine collet adhered to a thicker wove type sheet.  A beautiful impression of this very rare mezzotint by Smillie.

This is a fine original lithograph by American artist Stow Wengenroth.  The title is: Woodland Ledge, Corea Maine, created and printed in  1960 in an edition under 50.  The image measures 8 5/16X12 inches.  Very fine condition.  This image appears in the Stuckey catalog as image number 261.  Hand signed in pencil lower right border.

This is a very fine original etching of a hardworking woman carrying water by German artist Lesser Ury. The image size is 5 1/2 x 3 5/8 inches, 1923, pencil signed. Ury was a German Jewish artist known for his impressionistic paintings and etchings. He was best known for his scenes of Paris as well as a series of etching depicting the Dutch countryside and people.

This is an atmospheric scene of a ship coming into port, pulled by a tugboat; it is rendered with remarkabley delicate lines and a rich yet quite subtle tonal range, giving a strong sense of a soft morning fog over calm waters. The canvas sails of the ship beautifully contrast with the steam of the tug as is dissipates into the misty air. The image measures 19 x 23 inches, published in 1887, pencil signed on the lower right margin. "Copyright R. Cleveland Coxe, 1887, NY" is printed on the lower center, with a remarque of an anchor in the lower left margin. Framed. Coxe studied at the National Academy before going to Paris to study with Leon Bonnat. A painter and etcher, Coxe best works were of seascapes of the New England Coast.
