20th Century American Prints

Etching, dry point, image size 6 13/16 x 5 15/16 inches, ca. 1936, edition of 25 for the NYC WPA, signed and titled in pencil, stamped in l.l. Federal Art Project NYC WPA.

This is an original etching by California artist John Winkler.  The title is: Delicatessen Booth, San Francisco, created circa 1920 this etching is hand signed in pencil lower left border.  The image measures 11X6 1/2 inches.  " Winkler studied at the California Institute of Arts and published his first original etching in 1915. During the following eight years he established a large national reputation for his etchings, the great majority being depictions of San Francisco and its environs...Like Whistler, Winkler had the ability to capture life and movement with the utmost simplicity." Etching, image size 9 5/8 x 7 3/4 inches, edition of 90, Bpl 147, pencil signed. The gallery has two impressions of this etching.

This is a fine drypoint etching by American artist Sears Gallagher.  The image of Farmers Haying has an image size of 7X8 7/8 inches.  This image is hand signed in pencil, done circa 1930, printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.

Lithograph created and printed in 1931. Image is 12 3/8 x 14 1/8 inches.
Signed and editioned in pencil 4/25. Ten prints of this work were specially produced for the Federal (WPA) Arts Project of the 1930s.

This is an original etching by B. J. O. Nordfeldt, titled: La Rue St Jacques Paris.  This etching was created and printed circa 1910.  The image measures 12 1/2X10 1/2 inches.  hand signed and titled in pencil.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  There are a few pressure creases on the side borders, likely from the original printing press.  Unobtrusive.  Sold originally from Arthur Harlow Co in New York.

This is a scarce original wood engraving by American Modernist Leonard Baskin.  The title is: Three Women Before a Plain, created and printed in 1952.  The image, pencil signed, measures 3 1/2X4 1/2 inches on a sheet size of 17X17 inches, printed on a thin japan type sheet,  The image appears in the Fern O'Sullivan catalog as image number 214.

This image by the American artist Joseph Pennell measures 8 x 11 inches, unsigned proof, 5/5, cat: Worth-366, 1910, Frederick Kepppel label on back. Pennell was an important American etcher, lithographer and illustrator. Good friends with James McNeill Whistler, he and his wife co-authored his biography. Pennell was known for his continued experimentation with technique and style, producing cityscapes, landscapes and marine scenes.

This is an original etching by American artist Martin Petersen.  It is a view of Metal Workers in the studio.  This etching is hand signed and dated 1920.  The image measures 7X8 inches.  This etching is nicely framed with archival materials.
