Margolies trained at the National Academy of Design and the Beaux Arts Institute. From 1935 until 1939 Margolies participated in the Works Progress Administration program as a printmaker. His work is in the Society of American Etchers and the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.

He studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League in New York. He was a WPA muralist whose work can be seen at the U. S. Coast Guard Academy in New London. We have two impressions of this image, one nicely framed.
