This framed serigraph by Harry Shokler measures 18 1/2 x 14 1/4 inches and is hand signed in ink within the image, framed. Artist provenance on label on backing. Harry Shokler was born in Ohio and studied at the Cincinnatti Art Academy and the New York School of Fine and Applied Arts. Known as a Regionalist painter and printmaker, Shokler was one of the pioneers of the serigraph or silkscreen process of printmaking and in 1946 wrote one of the foremost books on the process, the "Artist's Manual for Silkscreen Printmaking". He was the President of the National Serigraph Society and a professor at the Brooklyn Museum of Art School.
