This is an original pencil signed etching by Emil Orlik. From his portfolio Aus Agypten created which was published in 1922. The image measures 3 1/2X1 3/4 inches. On a sheet size 9 1/4X7 inches Printed with a warm toned ink on a laid type sheet.
This etching is plate initialed in the lower left. Plate measures 3 3/4 x 5 3/4 inches in a 10 1/2 x 12 1/2 inch black frame from Kennedy & Co, label on back. A well inked impression with plate toning.
Sir David Cameron was considered one of the greatest British etchers of the early 20th century. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland and began studying art at the Glasgow Art School before moving on to the Edinburgh School of Art. He was a member of the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers, the Royal Society of Painters in Water-Colours, and the Royal Scottish Academy. He was eventually knighted for his contribution to British art.
