Etching, image size 6 1/4 x 8 1/2 inches, pencil signed l.l., plate initialed l.l., artist blindstamp l.r., very rare image, number one of 12 impressions, small repair in the image.

This is a remarkable original etching and aquatint of Hamburg Harbor in Germany. The image size is 15 5/8 x 22 3/4 inches, published in 1914 in an edition of 100 impressions, pencil signed and numbered. This image is printed using two plates, one in black ink and one in gray ink to create a chiaroscuro effect with beautiful tonal range and rich contrast. Luigi Kasimir studied at the Vienna Academy of Art, although much of his etching technique was self taught and learned through working from nature. Kasimir traveled all over Europe and the United States creating many spectacular etchings.

This very fine impression with its deep rich tones measures 11 3/4 x 7 3/4 inches, c. 1930. Presented on cream wove paper, this original drypoint has wide margins with a sheet size of 15 1/2 x 10 1/4 inches and is pencil signed on the lower border. Born in England and educated in Cambridge, Gaskell studied art in London and Italy before studying under Sir Frank Short at the Royal College of Art.

Color etching and aquatint, image size 16 x 22 1/2 inches, 1929, pencil signed, l.c. "Luigi Kasimir", on wove paper. A beautiful colored aquatint etching of the famous Persenbeug Castle situated along the banks of the Danube River. Framed.

Etching, image size 8 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches, 1931, pencil signed. Chahine studied at the Academia Di Belle Arti in Venice and then at the Academy Julien in Paris. He was a very well respected artist in his time, winning many awards and honors for his work. However his prints and paintings are hard to find, many of them were destroyed in a fire at his studio in 1926 or in a later flood in 1942.

This 1898 mezzotint by the British artist Sir Frank Short, measures 7 x 10 1/8 inches, pencil signed, after J.M.W. Turner, cat: Hardie-65.

A soft ground etching by German Expressionist artist Lovis Corinth, this image measures 12 1/2 x 9 3/8 inches, published in 1910 in an edition of 50 impressions, state I/III, cat: Schwarz-41,"LC" monogram in the upper left of the image, a faded signature below the image, framed. Corinth began his career studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and went on to study under Bouguereau at the Academie Julian in Paris.
