Pencil signed and titled etching by the Austrian Expressionist Wachelmayr. Image size is 7 3/4 x 9 3/4 inches on 10 3/4 x 12 3/4 inches wove-type paper. Circa 1917.

Woman Reading

This is a very fine original wood engraving by British artist John Nash. The image size is 6 x 4 1/2 inches, published c. 1930 in a very small edition of 20, pencil signed and titled in the lower margin. Primarily a self taught artist, John Nash was a renowned painter and printmaker and founding member of several prestigious artist groups, including the London Group in 1914, the Society of Wood Engravers in 1920 and the Colchester Art Society in 1946.

The Black Silk Dress

A superb portrait of Brockhurst's first wife Anais, this etching measures 8 3/4 x 6 1/4 inches, published in 1927 in an edition of 111, pencil signed. Born in England and found to be artistically talented at an early age, Gerald Brockhurst was enrolled in the Royal Academy Schools. A scholarship enabled him to study in France and Italy where the work of the great masters, especially Botticelli and da Vinci, had a lasting influenced on him. He became well known for his classically styled portraits etched with a remarkable sense of detail and texture.
