Mount Vernon Place - Baltimore

This etching by Anton Schutz measures 9 7/8 x 13 3/4 inches. It is pencil signed and numbered. Schutz was born in Germany and emigrated to the US in 1924 before Hitler came into power. A well-known artist in Germany, especially Munich, he started over again and enrolled in the Art Student's League in NY, working with Joseph Pennel. He became known for his portrayal of large cities along the eastern seaboard, capturing the enormity of the buildings along with the spirit of the American people.

Spanish Jewelry

A finely detailed original etching, this image measures 5 x 3 1/4 inches, published 1925, Spanish Church Series #6, 2nd State, cat: Fletcher-171, pencil signed and dated. John Taylor Arms was one of the foremost American printmakers of the 20th century, known for his exquisite compositions and exacting details which gave his etchings a very realistic, almost photographic appearance. He specialized in images of European architecture and cathedrals, such as this ornately carved Spanish doorway.
