This is an original etching by American artist Thomas Moran.  The title of this work is: "A Tower of Cortes, Mexico", it was created and printed in 1883.  The image measures 12X9 3/4 inches.  Very rich impression, plate signed only.  This etching was printed on a medium weight buff toned wove type paper.

This is a drypoint etching by French artist Louis Legrand.  The title is : English Bar, from his Album Les Bars, published by Pellet in Paris in 1909.  This impression is from the first state of three with the Remarque of a Woman in Profile.  The image measures 9 3/4X5 5/8 inches.  Hand signed in pencil, printed on a Japon type paper.  Numbered as 1/30.

This is an original etching by French artist Alphonse Legros.  It is a portrait of British etcher Sir Charles Holroyd.  Created circa 1889.  This image has a plate size of 11X7 inches, printed on a medium weight laid type paper.  This etching is hand signed in pencil lower right corner of the border.  

"Sir Charles Holroyd was one of the most prolific etchers of his generation. He was taught by Alphonse Legros at the Slade School of Art and his work shows the considerable influence of his close friend William Strang. Sir Charles Holroyd was appointed first Keeper of the Tate Gallery and later Director of the National Gallery. These posts ensured that he did not need to depend upon printmaking for his livelihood; consequently, his etchings were not issued in formal editions. Impressions of his etchings were only taken when required and, as a result, many of his printed works are very scarce indeed.

Alphonse Legros was the single most influential European printmaker upon the development of the etching revival in England. Born in Dijon, Legros was persuaded to move to London by Whistler, whom he had met in Paris. Legros rapidly achieved recognition for his highly accomplished etchings and in 1875 was placed in charge of the etching class at the Royal College in South Kensington and the following year was made Professor of Fine Art at the influential Slade School. It was during his eighteen years in this post that Legros was to exert a formidable influence upon the direction of an entire generation of British printmakers." (  thank you, Mr. Campbell)

 

This is a finely detailed etching by American artist Max Kuehne.  The scene is: New York from Weehawken, N.J.  It was created and printed circa 1930's.  The image measures 10X13 1/2 inches.  Pencil signed and titled in the lower border.  Printed on a J. Whatman medium weight laid type paper.

This is a great London etching by American artist Clifford Addams, image size 8 7/8 x 7 1/2 inches, c. 1902, edition of 75, inscribed in the plate, "Loci dulcedo nos attinet" (the sweetness of the place holds us), pencil signed and numbered. Clifford Addams grew up outside Philadelphia and studied art in the U. S. before leaving to further his studies in Europe. He traveled extensively throughout Holland, France, Spain, Italy and Britain, and spent several years in London studying etching with Whistler. He later returned to the U. S. and worked out of studios in both New York and London. He was known for his European city scenes, such as this Whistleresque image of a man gazing out over the busy Thames.

This is an original wood engraving by American artist Herbert Waters.  The title is: Arden Falls, Early Spring, created and printed in  1969 in an edition of 65 impressions.  This large image measures 5 1/2X15 3/4 inches.  Pencil signed, titled and numbered as 32/65.  Very fine condition, rich inking, incredible detail.  Arden Falls on the Tygart River  is in West Virginia .

This is a very large mezzotint by British artist Percival Gaskell.  We are unsure of the title, it shows a fine landscape with pond at sunrise.  This mezzotint is pencil signed by the artist and printed on a thin chine collet attached to a thicker sheet of wove type paper.  The image measures 12 3/34X18 1/4 inches.  Some light foxing in the outer border area.

This is an original color aquatint etching by American artist Lester George Hornby.  The title is "Le Fete a Pantin", it was created and printed in 1911 in an edition of 25.  The image measures 9 3/4X14 5/8 inches.  This etching is hand signed in pencil lower right and printed on a medium weight laid type paper.

This is a fine original wood engraving by American artist Herbert Waters.  This image is pencil signed and titled Atwood Pond.  The image measures 7 1/4X9 3/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight smooth surfaced sheet.  Very fine condition.  This is inscribed as 2nd edition, 1/30.

This is an original line engraving by French artist Jean A. Joseph Morin-Jean.  Created and printed circa 1920, this pencil signed impression has an image size of 9 5/8X7 7/8.  The edition is numbered as 8/10.  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper.

This is an original etching with aquatint by French impressionist Edward Manet .  The title is Theodore De Banville Facing Left, 1874.  This image was intended to be an illustration for his Les Ballades series.  This image measures 9 3/8X6 1/4 inches.  This impression was pulled from the cancelled plate in the early 20th century.  Printed on a Arches laid type paper.  This image appears in the Manet catalog as image number 64.  Théodore Faullain de Banville (14 March 1823 – 13 March 1891) was a French poet and writer. His work was influential on the Symbolist movement in French literature in the late 19th century.

This is an original engraving by Paulus Pontius after the painting by Anthony Van Dyck. The image size is 9 5/8 x 6 3/4 inches, c. 1700s, inscribed "Ant. van Dyck pinxit" and "Paul. du pont sculpt" in the lower left margin, with the title and a phrase in Latin below the image, with the original Kennedy Gallery label. Stalbent was a Flemish landscape painter and friend of Anthony Van Dyck when this portrait was painted. This engraving is printed on a very early laid type paper with margins trimmed to approximately 1/4 inch outside of the plate mark, some foxing as is to be expected in a print of this age.

This is a fine original wood engraving by American artist Leo Meissner.  The title is: Days End, it is pencil signed, titled and numbered as 8/40.  The image measures 8X10 3/4 inches.  Created and printed in 1936.  Most likely the coast of Maine.

This is a fine hand colored etching by American artist Dorsey Potter Tyson.  This study of a Musician is pencil signed and has an image size of  8X6 inches.  Very nicely framed with an orientalist style frame with French matting.
