This is one of her best known works: A woodengraving by American artist Betty Waldo Parish. This print was created and printed in 1935. A view known as Under the El, First Avenue, NYC. Also known as the Fruit Market. The wood engraving is hand signed and titled in pencil. The image measures 10X7 inches, nicely framed with archival boards. Very good condition, only a couple of pale foxing marks in the border, unobtrusive. Parish lived in New York City and studied with John Sloan and later Stanley Hayter in London. She is best known for her wood engravings of New York.

W7/60. "Decaris was born in Sotteville-lès-Rouen. At age 19, Decaris won the Concours de Rome, which was seen as the premiere award among young French artists at the time.
