Plate signed in the lower left, pencil signed in the lower right. Plate measures 8 x 9 3/4 inches on 9 5/8 x 11 3/4 inch wove type paper. Good use of plate tone with a rich drypoint burr. Meyerowitz studied at the National Academy of Design in NY and is best known for his development of producing etchings in color. His work is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Carnegie Institute; National Academy of Design; Harvard University and the Library of Congress.

This is an original etching by American artist Gottlob Briem 1899-1972.  The subject titled is: Tenement, Pittsfield, Vermont.  This etching created and printed circa 1940 has an image area of 5X11 1/4 inches, hand signed and titled in pencil printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  Extensive use of plate tone in the sky and land.  This etching was given to the former owner by the artist in Vermont.

This illustrative page from "The Great Mirror of Folly", 1720, was a volume of text with 76 engraved plates, documenting the international joint-stock scandal instigated by John Law. This great "Theater of Folly", representing the origin, progress, and downfall of the South Sea Bubble in France, England and Holland, is a collection of engraved plates with caricatures of the schemes of John Law and the Mississippi Company that lured clients to invest in establishing colonies in Louisiana and Canada with fatal results. "The Post Office" measures 9 3/4 x 13 3/4 inches and is pencil signed and numbered. Schutz was founder of the NY Graphic Society. Born in Germany and living there for many years, including some spent in the German Army in WW1, Schutz emigrated to the US in 1924 and attended the Art Student's League of NY, working with Joseph Pennell.
