This is an original color wood block print by Japanese artist Chinkanobu Toyohara.  It is from his Jidai Kagami series (Mirror of the Ages)  It was created and printed 1896-98.  Published by Matsuk Heikichi.  The image measures 12 7/8X8 inches.  Nicely presented with a custom linen mat.  The series 'Jidai Kagami', often translated as 'A Mirror of the Ages' is one of the most popular by the artist Chikanobu Yoshu. With 50 designs, it shows beauties with different hairstyles and lavish garments through various ages of Japanese history. The portraits are elaborately rendered, with a scene at the top which further references the time period or a memorable event that took place.

1655-1658)  This image was created and printed in 1897, published by Matsuki Heikichi.  The image measures 12 1/2X8 1/4 inches, sheet size is 14 1/8X9 1/4 inches. 

 This whole series is one of the outstanding achievements of late nineteenth century Japanese art. One of his best series, A Mirror of the Ages showed women by fashion and hair style throughout history. There is of course the longing for the past and yet these prints are unmistakably modern and of their time. The subject in each print is the finely rendered foreground figure shown as a portrait head and in the upper quarter, a scene in grisaille from the chosen period. The quality of printing is outstanding, especially in Chikanobu’s use of white for the rendering of the powdered faces. It is often forgotten by art historians that this was the period above all others when the technique of woodblock printing achieved its zenith whilst at the same time there were artists of stature to execute it.

This is an original etching by British printmaker Sir Charles Holroyd.  The title is: The Campanile of San Pietro di Castello, Venice.  Created and printed circa 1910, this etching is hand signed in pencil lower right border.  The image measures 11 3/4X8 7/8 inches.  Nicely framed with archival materials.

This is a fine aquatint etching by British artist Percival Gaskell.  The title is: The Lonely Tower, Roman Campagna, it was created and printed in 1924 in an edition of 150.  The image measures 10X14 1/4 inches, hand signed lower border in pencil.   Gaskell was born at Shipley in Yorkshire and educated in Cambridge. He studied art at the Royal College of Art, in Paris, and in Italy.

This is an original pencil signed etching by British artist Sir Frank Short.  The title is: A Lane in Arundel, it was created and printed in 1907.  The image measures 8 1/8X10 inches.  A rich impression.

This is a fine original drypoint etching by German artist Paul H. Herrmann (1864-)  This image of a Young Woman measures 15 1/4X 11 inches, printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  Pencil signed lower border and editioned as 20/20.

This is a very fine original etching by British artist Ian Strang (1886-1952)  This image titled: Place Cassanyes, Perpignan, was created and printed in 1920.  It is pencil signed lower right by the artist and has an image area of 6X9 inches.  Rich use of plate tone in the sky and sand.  Very nice condition, printed on a medium weight laid type sheet.

This is a fine etching by British printmaker Martin Hardie.  The title is: The Bridge, Chioggia, Venice, done in 1926.  This impression is hand signed in sepia ink lower right, done in an edition of 80.  The image measures 7 7/8X11 1/4 inches,printed on a medium weight laid type sheet.  A rich impression with nice use of plate tone in the sea and sky.

This is a rare etching by American artist Ronau Woiceske.  The title is Big Sycamore, created and printed in 1940 in an edition of only 20.  Hand signed and titled in pencil.  The image measures 8 7/8X7 7/8 inches.  This scene was taken near Woodstock New York.

This is a fine award winning etching by American artist Luigi Lucioni.  The title is: The Big Haystack, created and printed in 1947.  Sold by Associated American Artists in New York.  This pencil signed etching measures 8 1/4X11 7/8 inches.  Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.  A fine rich impression.

Etching, image size: 7 3/4 x 10 7/8 inches, ed. 100, pencil signed. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Yngve Edward Soderberg was an American watercolorist, etcher, and printmaker. He studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League in New York. He was a WPA muralist whose work can be seen at the U. S. Coast Guard Academy in New London. We have two impressions of this image, one nicely framed.

A richly toned etching by George Hand Wright measuring 8 7/8 x 11 7/8 inches, pencil signed and titled. George Wright studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Paris and Munich before settling in New York where he was an illustrator for Harper's and The Saturday Evening Post. He exhibited at the Art Students League and was a member of the Salmagundi Club and the Society of American Etchers.

This is a richly inked original etching of the town of North Adams in Western Massachusetts. Image size 10 3/8 x 7 1/4 inches, 1923, signed, titled and dated in the plate, pencil signed and titled.

This is an original pencil signed study of the Crucifixion .  This etching was created by German artist Friedrich Ritschel (1901-) The image measures 15 3/4X15 1/2 inches.  It appears to be early 20th century, printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  Very richly inked.
