20th Century European Prints

This is an original color aquatint etching by Austrian artist Luigi Kasimir.  The title of this work is: "Fleet Street,London", circa 1930, one of his best works.  The view is of St.Pauls and Ludgate Hill from Fleet Street.

The image measures 21 1/4X17 inches.  very nice condition, pencil signed in the lower left border, printed on a wove type paper.  It appears in the Kasimir catalog as image number 10.

This is a scarce original drypoint etching by British artist William Russell Flint.  The title is: "Eve", it was created and printed in 1930.  The image measures 7 1/4X10 1/8 inches.  Signed in a sepia ink lower border, printed on an antique laid type paper, identified in the artists hand as from 1753.  This image is numbered as LXVI.  Printed with a brown toned ink.  Some toning from an early window mat but does not affect the image area.  Collectors or printers information on the back of the sheet.

This is a fine original drypoint etching by British artist Francis Dodd.  It is a portrait of the artist Charles Cundall R.A.  It was created and printed in 1926, hand signed in pencil lower border.  The image measure 18X12  inches. Nicely framed with archival materials.  Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.

This is a fine original pencil signed etching by British artist Gerald Brockurst.  Created and printed in an edition of 111 impressions in 1931.  This image measures 9X7 1/4 inches.  Nicely framed with archival materials.  An impressive portrait, one of his finest etchings.

A very rare lithograph by the British artist Edmund Blampied measuring 17 1/2 x 14 inches, pencil signed and numbered 3/3. Edmund Blampied was a very successful artist and illustrator in early 20th century Britain. He illustrated many books and magazines, but is best known for his remarkable skills as a printmaker. He was an important figure in the 'British Etching Revival' of the early 20th century, and was elected to the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers in 1920.

This is  a finely detailed  etching by British artist Stanley Badmin.  The title is Richmond Bridge, created and printed in 1931 in an edition of 50, this impression is 4/50.  The image measures 4 3/8X6 3/8 inches.  Hand signed in pencil S.R. Badmin.  This image appears as number 24 in the Beetles catalog.  Published by the Twenty-One Gallery. Exhibited:Royal Academy ofArts, 1931. Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, 1932. This is a life time impression of the well known etching by Pierre Auguste Renoir, titled: Femme, Nue Couchee, Nude woman reclining facing right.  Created and printed in 1906, this impression done on a laid type sheet with the Fortuna watermark from the original printing.  The image measures 5 5/8X7 5/8 inches on a buff toned sheet.  Very fine condition.  Very light even toning over the image only, possibly as originally presented.  The image appears in the Melot catalog as image number R-14

This is a fine original color etching by Austrian artist Luigi Kasimir.  The scene is the New York Stock Exchange, created and printed circa 1932.  This image is hand signed in pencil and numbered 29/100.  The image measures 17 1/4X10 5/8 inches.  This etching is nicely framed with the early label from J. Assenheim in New York.

Etching from his Venice series of etchings. Done in 1925. Number 21 out of the edition of 80, This etching appears in the Hardie catalog as image number 250. The image measures 7 1/8 x 15 3/4 inches. J Whatman watermark laid-type paper. Collector's annotations in pencil at the lower edge of the sheet.

This is an original drypoint etching by British artist William Russell Flint.  The title is Aragonese String Makers, it was created and printed in 1930.  It is editioned as impression number XXVII...  The image measures 9 1/2X14 3/4 inches.  Printed on an early laid type paper, R.G. 1820.  The image is signed in sepia ink lower right border.  A very rich inking with extensive use of plate tone in the sky and land.  A beautiful impression.  This image was reproduced  for  the book "Fine Prints of the Year, 1931, published by Malcolm Salaman

This is an original lithograph by French artist Georges Rouault.  This is a portrait of Gustave Moreau, the teacher and mentor of Rouault.  It is known as the portrait in the little hat.  This pencil signed impression is the 3rd state of 4 with the edition of 25.  It was later published in state 4 with an edition of 350.  This lithograph was created and printed in 1926.  The image measures 9 1/8X6 3/4 inches.  This image is cataloged as F. 57.

Etching with drypoint, image size 9 1/4 x 11 1/2, 1934, edition of 40, pencil signed and numbered. This print is also in the MoMA collection.

This is an original etching and aquatint by British artist Laura Knight.  The title is: Dressing Room no.2.  This pencil signed etching was created and printed in 1923 in an edition of 55 impressions.  The image measures 7X9 inches,  Printed on a medium weight laid type paper.  A very rich impression.

This is an original drypoint etching by French artist Jules Pascin 1885-1935.  The title is Bal Tabarin, ( The tabarin Ball) created and printed in  1926 in an edition of 100, this impression is hand signed in pencil and numbered 30/100.  The image measures 11 1/4X13 1/4 inches.  "Pascin was Bulgarian and moved to Paris in 1905. He exhibited at various Paris art shows and was also an exhibitor at the Armory Show in New York in 1913. He moved to New York with his lover, Hermine David, and they eventually married in 1918. Like Toulouse-Lautrec, Pascin drew upon his surroundings and his friends as subjects. Nightlife scenes, such as this one, were typical of his artwork"

This is a beautifully colored etching and aquatint by French master of the Belle Epoch, Manuel Robbe (1872-1936) The title of this work is" Claudine" it was created and printed in 1903 and Published by Sagot in Paris. The image measures 12X9 3/4 inches, printed on a medium weight Arches watermarked laid paper. deckeled edges, a very rich impression, excellent condition. Robbe studied at the Academie Julien and then the Ecole des Beaux Artes. His technique of hand coloring the images means that no two are exactly alike, a very painterly technique.
