This is an original soft ground etching and aquatint by Austrian artist Tavik F. Simon.  The scene is: The Kiosks on the Grand Boulevards, in Paris.  This etching was created and printed in 1926 in an edition of 200, published by G. Petit, Paris.  The image appears in the Novak catalog as image number N.123.  The image measures 13 3/4X16 3/4 inches.  This etching is in the early frame with french matting.  Pencil signed lower right and numbered 6 of the edition.

Colored softground and aquatint from 1925. Numbered 65 in an edition of 300. Catalog: Novak 432. Pencil signed in the lower right, numbered in the lower left. Plate measures 11 5/8 x 15 1/4 inches on 15 1/8 x 19 inch watermarked wove type paper. An atmospheric etching that captures the bleak weather with splashes of color. F. Simon was born in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and traveled extensively throughout Europe, as well as Asia and the U.S. He lived in Paris from 1905-1913, then returned to Prague to teach at the Academy of Fine Arts. Simon was an exceptional painter and printmaker, and is best known for his atmospheric color etchings and aquatints, such as this wintry Paris scene.

This is a fine line engraving by British artist Stanley Anderson.  The title is The Old Tinker.  This pencil signed impression measures 7 X5 1/2  inches, created and printed in 1933.  This image appears in the Anderson Catalog as image number 208.  The tinker is depicted soldering a patch to a leaking kettle while his wife is about to renew the cane seat of an old chair.  Anderson often returned to the subject of the wanderer, of itinerants such as wayfarers pedlars and gypsies making their way through town.  This engraving is in a modern frame with archival materials.

" Castle Urquhart is situated on the banks of Loch Ness, with magnificent views across the Great Glen towards Inverness and Fort Augustus. This is an original etching with aquatint and drypoint by French artist Louis Legrand.  The title is: L'Habillage (Dressing)   a back stage view done for  the La Petite Classe, a series of 12 images  that Legrand created as a portfolio in  1908.  The image measures 16 3/4X11 3/4 inches.  This was the 4th state of 5 which includes the Remarque of a racehorse, printed in an edition of 30.  Signed in pencil and numbered,14/30.  This image appears in the Arwas catalog as image number 369.  This etching printed on a buff toned sheet is archivally framed.  This image was used as the cover of the Arwas catalog.

This is an original pencil signed and titled wood engraving by British artist Mary Elizabeth Groom.  The title is: The Crucifixion, created  and printed circa . 1929, it is numbered as 4/30.  The image measures 9 1/2X7 1/4 inches.  Printed on a thin japan type sheet.  Groom was a well known artist and illustrator one of  the Suffolk artists.  She was also a founding member of the English Wood Engraving Society starting in 1926.  Mary studied wood engraving at Leon Underwood's Art School, along with Underwood himself and with fellow-students such as Blair Hughes-Stanton, Gertrude Hermes  and Agnes Miller Parker

This is an original engraving by French artist Philippe Mohlitz.  This image is titled: The Abyss.  It was created and printed in 1967.  Pencil signed lower right and numbered as 28/50 lower left.  The image measures 8 1/4X7 1/8 inches.  Printed on a heavy weight laid type sheet.  Mohlitz uses the refined technique of Original engraving, in the traditional manner.  Born in Bordeaux in 1941 Mohlitz studied the techniques of engraving at the studio of Rene Delpech in Paris in the mid 1960's.

Original etching by the British artist, Arthur Brisco, measuring 6 1/2 x 10 7/8 inches, 1926, signed and numbered; 62/75, cat: Hurst-158. Britain's "General Strike" was the theme of Brisco's dramatic image of "The Orator". The strike, mainly by coal-miners upset with their goverments' reduction in wages and worsening conditions, also included dockers, printers, power station workers and transport workers, thus Brisco's interest in the subject.
