This drypoint etching of the English landscape painter, Charles March Gere, c. 1927, measures 12 x 10 1/4 inches and is pencil signed on the lower right margin. Francis Dodd was born in Wales and trained at the Glasgow School of Art winning the Haldane Scholarship in 1893 enabling him to travel and study in France, Italy and Spain. During WWI he became a portrait war artist producing more than 30 portraits of senior officers. After the war he gained considerable notoriety for his watercolors as well as his printmaking.

This is a hand signed color etching by Czech artist Tavik Frantisek Simon.  The title is: Fishermen in Concarneau, Brittany, created and printed in 1912 in an edition of 300 published by G. Petit in Paris.  The image measures 12X13 1/2 inches.  Numbered 216 near the artists stamp lower border.  This image appears in the Novak catalog as image number 192.

This is a rare early state etching by American artist Frank Benson.  The title is On Set Wings, created and printed in 1923.  This is a trial proof, hand signed in pencil, before the addition of the clouds and lines at the shore.  This image was later used as a frontispiece for Volume III of the Paff catalog.  The image measures 4 1/2X5 7/8 inches.  The image appears in the Ordeman catalog as image number 223.

This is an original etching with drypoint by British artist Seymour Haden.  The title is Cowdray Castle with Geese.  It was created and printed in 1882, this is the forth state of five.  Hand signed in pencil , printed on a laid type paper.  Titled and dated lower left in the image.  The image measures 6X9 1/2 inches.  This image appears in the Schneiderman catalog as image number 208.

This is a finely detailed line engraving by British artist Robert Sargen Austin.  The title is: "The Pack Bridge, Aylestone, Leicestershire".  The image measures 4 13/16X4 7/16 inches.  It was created and printed in 1926 and appears in the Dodgson catalog as image number 65.  It was printed in an edition of 60.

This is a fine drypoint etching by British artist Sir Henry Rushbury.  The subject is the destruction of St. Olave's cathedral on  Tooley Street in Bermondsey.  This drypoint is hand signed by the artist with pen and ink in the lower border.  The image measures 11 3/8X8 1/16 inches.  Very richly printed on a medium weight wove type paper.  This image created in 1927.  "the demolition in process of a historic London dockside church, St Olave's, Bermondsey/ Southwark. This took place because of local depopulation and the church being given 'redundant' status. Demolition took place in two stages and Rushbury has cleverly seized the moment when the nave was all but destroyed (1926) but the tower was still intact. This didn't last long, and it was demolished in turn in 1928. Building materials and debris litter the foreground."

This is an original pencil signed and titled woodblock print by American artist Isac Friedlander. The title of this work is "Jeremiah", created and printed circa 1940. The image measures 6 3/4X5 7/8 inches. Isac Friedlander (1890-1968) was born in Latvia. In 1912 he went to Italy where he met and worked with Russian artist Maxim Gorky. During this period he also received his only art training, studying etching, drawing and relief printing at the Academy of Rome. In 1937, he emigrated to New York where he worked full time as an artist until his death. He is best known for his woodcuts and etchings, and many museums have works by the artist, including the Smithsonian, Bibliotheque Nationale, and the Brooklyn Museum.

This finely printed wood engraving by Surendorf measures 8 3/4 x 10 3/8 inches. It is matted and framed which measures 15 x 16 inches. The title, edition number and signature is in pencil on the lower margin. This strong impression is in excellent condition. Surendorf studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League in NYC. He was a full member of the California Society of Etchers and the San Francisco Art Association. His works are included in the collections of the Achenbach Foundation in San Francisco, the Smithsonian Institute and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
